The Gambia’s Pharmacy Council has validated a four year strategic plan due to run from 2018-2021, held at a local hotel in Bijilo
The strategic plan aimed at connecting the mandate, mission and vision of the council to realize its statutory objective.
Babanding Sabally, director of Pharmaceutical Services at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, described the validation as timely, adding it will serve as a guide for the Pharmacy Council to effectively implement it activities.
“The practice of pharmacy has started in the Gambia in the 70,s with few pharmacist noting that for the past years significant achievements has been registered but still there are challenges confronting the practice but once the act come into force will greatly achieve some of the challenges confronting the practice,” he said.
Essa Marenah, Chairman of the Pharmacy Council also said the decision of the strategic plan dated months, adding the council’s aim have an evaluation progress.
He said the council is committed to promoting and health and safety of the public through safeguarding, maintaining and enforcement.
He said: “A well formulated and executed Strategy establishes the foundations, against which the organization can create, monitor and measure their success.”
