Qgroup Foundation has recently distributed one million dalasi to the fire victims of Brikama market, held at the Brikama Area Council.
The donation came hard on the heels of fire out break that ravaged market of populous West Coast Region growth centre last week Thursday, at least 35 stalls and other valuable properties were destroyed.
Muhammed Jah is the CEO of the Qgroup and described the fire incident as very sad, saying it was an attempt to destroy entrepreneurial lives of people.
“I have listen carefully to some of the stall owners, Gallant entrepreneurs of The Gambia, their tones, words of shock and sorrow of what happened at the market, but above all the cried for help from us and other fellow Gambians, especially the business community”, is deeply felt.
The Qgroup boss gave assurance of his institution’s readiness to donate the first D1Milion dalasi and that the Qgroup foundation will use the initial funds of D1million to help rebuild all the 35 stalls destroyed within a short time, saying they will use our media outlets Qradio, 103.3FM and QTV to create the media awareness.
He explained that after getting notice of the fire incident, he could not wait to give assistance cognizant of the fact that time is time is essence for business.
Meanwhile, he also disclosed that Qgroup foundation has opened a temporal bank account in partnership with Brikama Area council and National Disaster Agency at AGIB Bank meant to enable Gambians from all walks of life extends support to the victims of the fire out break.

Other speakers at the occasion included Governor of West Coast Region Bakary Sanyang, Regional disaster coordinator West Coast Region, among other victims, who expressed appreciation of what they called timely intervention of the Qgroup decision.
