The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) on Friday launched its first maiden Magazine named “NAAMO”, held GRA conference room in Banjul.
The authors of the magazine include, Abdoulie Nyockeh of the point, Maimuna Sey-Jawo, Isatou Jawara a freelance journalist and Omar Bah of the standard news papers respectively.
The magazine focus on issues that are relevant to the transformation of the authority especially tax collection and some of the achievement that they registered during the past years.
Speaking at the forum on behalf of the authors, Abdoulie Nyockeh head of the authors expressed gratitude to his team workers, who he said were very supportive and committed during the documentation of the magazine.
He expressed hope that the NAAMO magazine launched will be a life changing one, as it will impact positively on the lives and livelihood of the taxpayers and GRA as well.
According to Nyockeh, the magazine centered on some of the activities under taken by the (GRA) and some of their achievement and as well it also featured all the commercial banks that sign a memorandum of understanding with the Gambia revenue authority.
He thanks the commissioner general of the GRA and assured him that he will continue doing more of this kind with his team.
The Commissioner General at the GRA Yankuba Darboe returns gratitude to the authors of the 1st GRA “NAAMO” Magazine, for taking their time and document such a magazine of its kind.
He thanks their partners especially GPA who he said has paid over D72M in 2017 alone, he also thank the Commercial banks, the Brikama Area Council, the Director of SIS and other their partners in development for being tax compliance.
The GRA CG, assured that this magazine is going to be an annual thing, and all those who are not tax compliance will not be part of it, they are accepting institutions that are very much tax compliance, noting is only tax that can move this country forward.
CG Darboe urges the management to put together effort in helping the tax payers to be compliance with their tax obligation.
‘’The NAAMO magazine aim to capture key GRA activities during the year, which include training workshops, meetings and taxpayers event organized by GRA or in collaboration with their partners,’’ he stated.
Essa Jallow, Deputy Commissioner General GRA, and head of domestic tax said the magazine will go a long way in term of cataloging the important event which is very important mile stone that they have reach over a period of time.
It is not easy to remember all their pass activities, but with this magazine is a reminder of their pass activities, he said.
He described the magazine as very quality and said will go a long way in complementing the works of the Gambia revenue authority and it also help them to so it to visitors to know what is happing at the authority.
For his part Mr. Alieu Ceesay commissioner of customs GRA, was quick to thank the commissioner General and the top management of GRA for their collaboration in ensuring that this “NAAMO” Magazine is realized.
Mr. Ceesay expressed impressed about the quality of the Magazine and thank the production team headed by Mr. Abdoulie Nyockeh for their professionalism demonstrated in documenting this Magazine. , I think it is a very good magazine. He also thanked the commissioner General for the leadership role that he plays to ensure that this magazine is realized.
Also speaking, Mr. Ernest A. Mendy Director of human resources and admin at GRA , also reiterated the importance attach this “Naamo” Magazine and thank Mr. Abdoulie Nyockeh and the team for their effort taking to produced this very important Magazine.
He said considering this magazine, the producers have put a lot of effort to produce this Magazine. He said the management of GRA most thank you for a job well done.
He said publicity is very important as we deal with taxpayers .He added that therefore it is important that people know the important of paying tax. He further cited that the Magazine is also another avenue propel and project the Authority so that people will know what the Authority is doing.
Samba Sallah, Deputy Commissioner Head quarter function GRA commended Mr. Abdoulie Nyockeh for the high sense of commitment in portraying the good image of the GRA.
He advised Mr. Nyockeh and his team to continue the hard work and professionalism. We at GRA appreciate and acknowledge your contribution toward creating more visibility for the Authority.
