GTBoard Optimism Of Bumper Season

As more maiden flights continue to land in Destination Gambia in the ongoing 2018/2019 winter tourism season, the officials of the Gambia Tourism Board continue to express confidence of having a successful and bumper season.

The Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) joined by other tourism fraternity to receive the Corendon Airlines maiden flight for this year’s 2018/2019 winter season at the Gambia International Airport. The arrival of the maiden flight for this year’s season with 169 tourists to Destination Gambia became another historic and positive development to the Gambia Tourism Board as the airlines increased the number of its flight frequency to the Destination to four times in a week.

Receiving the Airlines – Boeing 737-800 PH-CDE with 169 passengers onboard from Holland and direct to The Gambia at 12 noon on Monday by Abdoullahi Hydara, Director General of Gambia Tourism Board with optimistic that more flights are expected from the source market, Holland.

He confirmed that Corendon Airline will be doing four flights per week from Holland to the Gambia and with a bigger capacity “hopefully” he said “we will have a good season.”

DG Hydara expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, the government through his ministry – MoTC for their relentless efforts in term of supporting the Gambia Tourism Board which has enable them to get where they are today.

He stated that it is a great pleasure for them behind the scene to see that their efforts and hard works are not in vain as they can begin to see the result of it.

Adama Njie, Director of Marketing – GTBoard noted that in this season Correndon and TUI Airlines will be flying from Holland to The Gambia “and these two airlines are regular players.”

According to their record, he said TUI will be doing five flights from Holland and Correndon four flights on weekly basis.
