The Gambia Revenue Authority board of directors and management has visited its taxes offices in Central River Region and Upper River Region.
The visit was part of three-day familiarization tour aimed to share issues affecting the operations regional offices across the country, and find practical solutions to it.
Among the purpose of the visit was to get first hand information regarding their working condition and other burning issues that hampering in maximizing revenue collection
Yankuba Darboe, Commissioner General of GRA expressed appreciation with the level of cooperation between the regional tax office staff and the security forces in the region.
He commended the regional tax office staff for making a significant progress in term of revenue collection but reminded them the role of the security is paramount important in the collection of tax.
“There will be no effective revenue collection without security participation,” he said.
Kabiro Barrow tax manager described the visit as long overdue, saying it will serve as motivation and encouragement to the staff on the ground.
He also described the tour as a plus for them in the sense that that the regional tax offices staff will be taking this opportunity to outlines their constraints, challenges to the top management.

He said: “GRA should not be seen as a hostile that come to collect money from the community alone.”
For his part, Essa Jallow, head of domestic tax applauded GRA officials for their team work and cooperation with the security forces in the region.
