The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education is to probe Tallinding Upper Basic School crisis, following Monday’s lesson boycott by its students.
Students of the school boycotted lessons amidst problem between the principal and 17 staff teachers, who are said were transferred to other schools.
And at close door meeting between the Ministry and the 17 teachers convened at the Ministry’s offices in Banjul was aimed at bringing normalcy at the school.
The teachers were also urged to stay away from the school service until MoBSE finish its investigation into the issue, which is expected to conclude on Friday.
Speaking to the media, the spokesperson for the Tallinding Upper Basic teachers, who deemed it to remained anonymous, expressed optimistic about the outcome of the meeting, saying they were ask to stay away from the school pending four day investigation, which result is expected to be declared on Friday.
“They promise us that from on they are going to work on that. The 17 teachers we are ask to stay away from the school so that effective learning can go on, which I believe is very fair to the kids as well,” he said.
He said they were equally given the chance to voice out various challenges they face at the school on the side of the administration, adding Monday’s turmoil was as a cause of misinformation between the school and the authority.
Part of the memos agreed according to him, includes that if any teacher whose transfer is very genuine with no personal has to abide by the memo.
He said: “But what we made very clear here is that most of the teachers had a personal issue with principal, and we want them to do the work properly.”
“There is no problem we were receive well, we discussed on issues that are affecting us individual issues, we made our stand clear that justice wasn’t serve that we felt that we were not listened to,” he added.
