Lawmaker for Old Yundum awards prizes to Wellingara LBS students

Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay, lawmaker for old Yundum constituency has awarded nine (9) most outstanding student of Wellingara Lower Basic School.

The prizes included, learning materials, certificates and some token of money in recognition of the students’ performance last year academic examination.

The 9 students came from grade 4, 5 and 6, in which 3 students of each class was awarded.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony Kebba Fatty, the Chairman of the school Management Committee expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for his consideration to school always.

He called on others to emulate him in promoting the teaching and learning of the school children, adding this will motivate children to learn.

For her part the head mistress of the school Madam Boidoh Jallow Baldeh said: “this school is honor to have this gesture of its kind.”

She said the gesture will go a long way in motivating their students, urging the lawmaker to do more support to the school.

For his part Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay said it was part of his dream will always to plough back to his community whenever the need arises.

He said: “All this is possible because of the hardworking of the Mistress of the school and her team, thus challenge them to continue the hard work.”

He challenged parents to give space to students to study hard at home to perform more at school and assured that they will help the school with water.

Lasana Kanteh, VDC chairman  congratulate the teachers and the students for their outstanding achievement and challenge them to continue doing more and urge parent to encourage their children at home to study more.
