The National Youth Council (NYC) has launched national organizing committee and national consortium of African Youth Commission ahead of the African Youth Commission’s conference due in Banjul on March 2019.
Dembo Kambi, NYC chairperson said: “This conference is one of the avenues were youth contributing in the development of Africa, their countries and communities; therefore, the initiative is quite impressive.”
He called on youth to unite and work collaboratively and mobilize resources for the success of the conference.
He said NYC has already got the political support for the implementation of the meeting, adding ministry of youth and sports is committed to working with partners for the success of the conference.
He said:“NYC will mobilize the political support to ensure the government, bilateral and multilateral stakeholders support them [NOC] to make sure the conference is successfully implement.”
Natalie Sonia Makundane, acting executive chairperson of the African Youth Commission said the national youth consortium is significant for the country’s youth, calling on all youth organization to work with the national consortium to ensure youth advancement.
She said: “AYC has three year strategy plan to empower the African youth on the areas of human rights, governance and political leadership, entrepreneurship, health, gender equality among others.”
She added: “We [AYC] have a budgeted action plan so that every member state is involved to make their contribution on youth development; this why we are converging here [The Gambia] next year for the AYC conference.”
