Truck Kills 8 Cattle in CRR

At least eight [8] cattle believed to belong to Habdou Camara have been knocked death by a truck near Jarumekoto in central river region on Wednesday, leaving the driver wounded.

According to information reaching our news desk, indicated that the cattle worth about two hundred dalasi.

In a telephone interview with the chief Sheikh Dawda York of Nianija, explained: “the accident happened when the cattle were travelling from Jamaly village in the Sami District to Nianija district.”

According to him, a truck on high speed knocked the cattle upon the arrival at Jarumehkoto hill on the road, and said “the truck felt down but is not clear to me whether the driver show the cows initially or not.”

He also said the wounded driver has been arrested by Kuntaur Police, who he said is now helping the police with their investigations.

Chief York further urged drivers to drive carefully to avoid tragic road accident, as he also called on government, NGOs and private individuals to come to the aid of Camara.

He said: “Let them come to the aid of the cattle owner so as to restore the lost as his valuable livestock gone astray due to the calamity beyond human control.”

Meanwhile, in the region cattle owners go on shifting in looking for greener pasture for the ruminant during the rainy season, in which after the season they return to their respective dwellings.
