Rose T Mendy, Program Officer at Future Our Hands has said women and you empowerment is the key to Gambia’s development.
She made the remark at 8 days community engagement forum, which was meant to dialogue and enhance the understanding of participant on gender stereotypes, discrimination, inequalities against women and youth.

Mustapha S Koli, Women’s Bureau Programme Officer for Lower River Region, said that Women and Youth empowerment is a priority to the Government of the Gambia as highlighted in the National Development Plan (2018-2021).
He cited legal, policy, structural and cultural factors as contributory factors to Women Empowerment in the Country.
Mr. Juldeh Bah, The Alkalo of Felenkoto in Jarra East District of Lower River Region expressed gratitude to Future in Our Hands, The Gambia for their support over the years and also for addressing some of the pressing needs affecting lives and livelihoods in their various communities.
He said: “the forum will contribute to raise the awareness of participants on Women and Youth right.”
