Antwerp Banjul Challenge, a Netherland charitable organisation has a ambulance, medical equipment to Farafenni General Hospital, aimed to improving and contributing to attainment of quality health care delivery.
The medical equipment includes, patients monitor machine, oxygen concentrator, autoclave, blood pressure machine, working aid, suction machine and other supplies and cloths for school children in Farafenni.
Speaking at the ceremony, Wandifa Samateh, the Chief Executive Officer of Farafenni General Hospital underscored the important management and board attaches in building with Antwerp Banjul Challenge.
“The donation is historic and would obviously strengthen health care service delivery. The hospital served a referral points for health facilities in CRR North and Lower River Regions, “he said.
He lauded the Coordinator of Antwerp Banjul Challenge Ousman Sonko of RDI for facilitating the partnership, and the ambulance, medical equipment and other supplies came as a result of need assessment of the hospital.
He said the donation is the first of its kind to the hospital, assuring their commitment to supporting the hospital a center of excellence in rural Gambia.
Governor, Ebrima KS Dampha and who double as board member of the hospital acknowledge the enormous contribution of Antwerp Banjul Challenge to Gambia, noting that such support would complement government efforts in strengthen health care services and by extension improve lives and livelihood.
Governor Dampha thanks the donor for empowering the hospital management to identify their needs, to enhance service delivery.
COR DE BRESSER Director of Antwerp Banjul Challenge described the day as historic and disclosed that the ambulance, medical equipment and other supplies worth over millions and the objective is to contribute in strengthen health care service delivery.
He assured of their fullest support and cooperation in partnering with Farafenni General Hospital.
Sunkari Badjie of Department of Community Development thanks partners for their invaluable support to the health sector. The establishment of Memorandum of Understanding between Department of Community Development and Antwerp Banjul Challenge Helping Hand Foundation contributed to enhance services delivery and livelihood development.
