A Gambian referee Bakary Papa Gassama will take charge of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture between South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria billed for November, 17 2018 at the magnificent FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.
The 39-year-old is regarded as one of the best referees on the continent and was among the few Africans selected for the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The highly competent Gassama, who officiate the Group C match between Peru and Denmark at this year’s FIFA World Cup, will be assisted compatriots Sulayman Sooseh and Omar Sallah.
This will not be the first time three-time CAF referee of the year; Gassama will be taking charge of Nigeria’s games as he officiated the Super Eagles’ 3-1 victory over Algeria in Uyo prior to the World Cup.
Nigeria currently leads Group E with 9 points from four matches, one point ahead of South Africa who has 8 points from the same number of matches.
