Steve’s Guizhou relegated from Chinese Super League

Scorpions international Bubacarr ‘Steve’ Trawally’s Guizhou Zhicheng has been relegated to the second-tier of Chinese football after a disappointing campaign in the Super League at the weekend.

Guizhou’s fate was sealed with a 2-0 defeat to Guangzhou R&F which consigned them to relegation to China League One.

Guizhou, who had only 21 points with two rounds of matches to go are the first team to be relegated from this season’s Super League.

It is the second consecutive relegation for Steve who suffered a similar fate last season with Yanbian Funde.

The Gambia forward is Guizhou’s leading scorer with 11 goals in 28 league appearances.

Elsewhere, there was joy for Scorpions striker Pa Amat Dibba whose Shenzhen FC secured Super League promotion after a 5-0 home win over Zhejiang Yiteng.
