The recent increment in the price of fuel across the country has sparked angry emotion amongst drivers in the country, as fuel price has been increase from D50 to D60.
And during sounding reasons of the drivers, Babucarr Ceesay, a commercial driver expressed dismay about the rise of the prices, adding that the sudden increment has affected their services.
“For instance in a taxi of four passengers, and the fare paid is D32 where in the situation of the traffic is congested it delays business as well leading to a waste of resources,” he said.
He added: “However it is sometimes stressful and disheartened that we the drivers face a lot of difficulties in our respective business centers.”
Expressing in grief, he said driver are family heads and that they are breadwinners “we are expected to take something home.”
Biram Jeng also a driver said: “The government should not force us to reduce the high cost of fare due to the high cost of fuel since they cannot provide good roads.”
He further said that it is devastating on emerging economic where the wages and salaries are less or flat.
