Momodou Bojang, a UDP Councilor for Sanyang ward has downplayed Yusupha Cham, who is the current UDP regional chairman for West Coast Region, saying “he has no mandate to sack anyone from United Democratic Party.”
“I challenge him to a debate to National media or any radio Station for public to know who is on the right paths,” he said.
Mr Bojang made the remark in a reaction to Yusupha Cham’s remark, in which Cham who confirmed the removal 5 chairperson in the West Coast Region to The Standard.
He said: “I want to react to Yusupha Cham’s remarks he made on The Standard Newspaper, regarding to that five people. When this news came out I felt it very sad and I received many calls from different people and I also show Yusupha Cham’s picture on The Standard. With head line UDP dumps 5 Chairpersons in West Coast.”
“I want to make it very clear to the people of Kombo South and all Gambians that Yusupha Cham did not conducted any congress in Kombo South that can be valid.” he added.
He further urged Cham to apologies to the people of Kombo South and the Gambians saying: “He and Honourable Kebba. K Barrow who hand pick people and they went and hiding themselves in somewhere else and conducted the congress in the name of the party.”
He said: “According to the constitution each should sent 5 delegates. Then I asked him why is 40 delegates, he told me that is Honourable Kebba K Barrow who gave that to him. So the people did accept that and Hon KK Barrow whether we accepted or not the congress must go ahead. They later left and we continue with our congress in Sanyang.”
He said the UDP doesn’t belong to Yusupha Cham and cannot sack anyone from UDP, adding they have done their congress.
