The Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) in collaboration with the Fish The Gambia Sunday declared open the 6th Edition of The Gambia International Boat Fishing Competition 2018.
The four day competition proper kicked off Monday morning at the identified fishing spot which include Barra, Dog Island, Cape Point among other places.
The 2018 edition as usual brought together large number of foreign and sponsored local anglers. The International Boat Fishing Competition is one of the tourism products in the destination meant to further improve the sports and fishing event and as well consolidate on the existing small-scale fishing competition in Destination Gambia.
Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the competition Ousman Kebbeh, PRO GTBoard welcomed all anglers and their supporters to competition and as well thanked different institutions that have sponsored this year event.
He described The Gambia International Boat Fishing Competition, though in its sixth edition, as a still new product designed for the enjoyment of the tourists to the destination whilst on holiday in the country.
In conclusion, he thanked all the stakeholders who will be rendering their usual service throughout the competition which among include Ministry of Fisheries, Gambia Fire and Rescue Service, Gambia Navy, Gambia Maritime Association and other stakeholders.
