The Police Prosecution yesterday 14th November 2018, amended and filed fresh charges against outspoken Gambian rapper Killa Ace before Magistrate Sainey Joof at Kanifing Magistrate Court.
Ace was charged with three criminal offences which include, ‘assault’, ‘breach of peace’ and ‘willful damage of property’. But he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Case continues on 22nd November, 2018. Earlier on, when the case was called police prosecutor SI O. Bobb told the court that the prosecution want to amend count one two and adding another counts making it three count in line with Section 169 of Criminal Procedure Code.
Defence Counsel Patrick Gomez, objected to the prosecutor application, arguing that the application is incomplete and it is done in bad faith. He argued that paragraph B of Section 169 indicate that there should be a threshold for an amendment.
He added that the prosecution fails to establish prove that the previous charges are defective. He told the court that the charges before the court are not defective.
In his ruling the trial Magistrate Joof, ruled that the prosecution has the right to amend or withdraw any charges before the court. He told the court to read the amended charges to the accused person to take his plea.
