A sitting lawmaker has called on the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission to resign his position and allow fresh agile hand to take in charge.
Alagie Sowe, a lawmaker for the Jimara constituency said: “Alieu Momar Njai is getting too old to perform his duties property.”
During an exclusive interview with The Voice, Hon. Sowe said: “due to old age Mr. Njai always make serious mistake in election and this could cause a serious political problems in the country.”
According to him, due to mistake made by country’s electoral referee under Mr. Njai brought the country into a standstill situation which resulted to exile of the Ex-President Yahya Jammeh.
“The recently political impasse during the last presidential election which shows Gambia ex ruler Jammeh ousted is a tying example of such serious mistakes made by the IEC under Alieu Momar Njai,” he said.
