Baobab Heritage Foundation has awarded two officials of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) for their valuable contributions towards the development of Arts and Culture in The Gambia and beyond.
Sheikh Omar Jallow, Director of Fine and Performing Arts and Matty Jobe, program officer were both awarded with certificate and medal in culture and community building.
Speaking at the ceremony at a Local in Banjul Omotunde Omola, founder Baobab Cultural heritage said his organization is out to promote and enhance the growth and preservation of African cultures, traditions and heritage. Omotumde Omola continues to revealed that his organization has designated various categories of awards ranging from lifelong services awards, entrepreneurship excellence award as well as cultural and community building excellence awards
“These officials of the NCAC have been serving distinctively towards the preservation of arts and culture in the country and afar and honouring them with medals and the certificates is the least Baobab Heritage Foundation could do,” he told the Voice.
Omotunde continues to revealed that The Gambia has been carefully chosen to host this years award, adding that its a country rich in culture and tradition that should be genuinely promote.
He said this is not the first time Baobab has award certificates of honour to deserving African, disclosing that such event was held in Austria, United Kingdom and Nigeria, revealing that next year’s award will be held in Ghana.
Omotunde called on young African to strive hard in learning and preserving the indigenous African culture, while commending the NCAC for all its endeavors in the preservation of The Gambian culture.
The event was precise over by elders of the Yoruba’s, Ebo’s and Hausa’s living in The Gambia among other distinguished personalities.
