Dankunku has benefitted an amount of thirty-six thousand dalasi from three high profile individual from Gambia and Senegal.
They include vice president Ousainou Darboe, Jaliba Kuyateh kora maestro and Aida Mboge aspirant president in Senegal.
And D25, 000 was contributed by VP Darboe, D5000 by Jaliba Kuyateh and D6000 by Aida of Senegal.
The 10th event attracted people from different walks of life and cultural troops across the two countries.
Almami Said khan, a native of the village called on other to emulate the vice president and support Niamina district to meet their project a target.
For his part the chairman of Maritantang development association Sulayman Mboge, said DAMDA has been longtime recognized culture as an important prerequisite for the unification of their people of various ethno linguistic background as well as a vehicle for development..
He said Niamina Dankunku has a rice flora and fauna with lots of wild animal species in additional to the hippos, several pieces of bird are also available at various locations in their bushes, he noted that, the district is widely known for its agricultural potentials particularly rice production.
He further went on to described Dankunku festival as one of the reaches festival with full varieties of culture one will hardly see in the Gambia with diversities of Mandinka, Fula, and Wolof.
Also speaking at the cultural event, the Alkalo of Dankunku, Alhagie Sulayman Keita, return gratitude to the president of the Gambia and his vice and any others who support them in making their year festival a successful one.
Mr. Keita called on all to come on board to support Niamina Dankunku district to transform the district to a better one, he noted the area they need support most, are road construction, changing their minor health centre to a major one, developing Dankunku senior school, electricity and the like.
