Introducing Sheikh Omar Touray Chief Executive Officer -Green Light And Builders Company Limited
However, in this edition we focused on Green Light And Builders Company Limited. This construction business is a hundred percent Gambia’s company own by a young dynamic; development oriented Gambian, Sheikh Omar Touray, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Touray, who went to Armitage Senior Secondary School (ASSS) in Janjanbureh to study technical skill mainly construction, he later enrolled to Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) to pursue a diploma in construction and architecture.
After finishing his studies at the main technical training Institution in the country, Touray got employment with GIGO Construction Company, he then establish his own company called Green Light and Builders Company Limited in 2013 and launched it in 2016.
He started up with a limited working capital, a workforce of seven and almost no equipment but small tools like spade, wheelbarrow and other small building tools.
The Company has been the pioneering force behind creating dream spaces for individuals and corporate. The company is growing from strength to strength and successfully completed over 20 projects in residential, commercial, education, hotels industry and other sectors.
With rapid and consistent delivery of efficient works, Green Light has secured the confidence of quality-oriented customers.
The company has increased its customers services with passion for neat and sophisticated staff such as Paul Mendy, Peter Habib Mendy, Fatoumatta Touray and Modou Gassama who are working tirelessly to ensure the advancement of the company,” Touray one of the youngest CEO told The Voice Business Focus.
He added that the company is equipped with the indispensable expertise and wide-ranging experienced employees to embark on any construction project with single source of responsibility.
“Contract is executed using state of art design tools and project management techniques from concept to commissioning. We intend to be a one-stop solution for all your civil construction and interior requirements,” he said.
Mr. Touray further noted that recently, the single most excellent trait of his company is its steadfast commitment to building top-rated structures refined in appearance and rugged in construction.
In addition, the company does other construction-related service such as landscaping, quantity survey and architectural works.
He revealed that already there plans to expand and diversify procedures into related field such as real estate, building material supply, engineering, bridge, road constructions among other relevant services for nation building.
The young entrepreneur told Business Focus that the company executes projects on turned-keys basis, meaning that the company handles all aspects of the construction process from foundation up to 100% completion nothing is left except to move with one’s luggage and furniture.
Touray also pointed out that in case, when a customer is not financially strong to enter into a contract, the company consider signing a “phase contract” meaning the contract would have to be executed in stages -for instance the company will work on the construction phase as arrange below.

Phase III- finishing work
“Either ways, contract signed by the company has contract duration (the time it takes to complete the job and terms of the payments). The company breaks down contract sum into convenient installment payment,” he said.
He added: “We envision a future wherein Green Light is a household name to the word-over; a future wherein our brand symbolizes superior community living of the highest standards of quality and customer delight.”
The Green Light and Builders Construction Company Limited is rapidly developing in the construction industry in The Gambia and on the verge to move beyond the tiny West African nation’s boards due to its consistency on house construction.
However, he reiterated that The Green Light and Builders Company Limited concentrated on house construction; architecture as well as roofing already constructed building among other aspects regarding construction of homes, stores, mosques, churches and so on.
He disclosed that currently his company is managing about twenty- four ongoing projects across the country. It also carried out numerous architectural projects since inception and currently the company is designing certain project across the country and beyond.
The company has extraordinary services to meet the need of its customers that enables bouquet of Gambians turning their faces toward it so as to get the kind of building they need for their families.
Touray observed that customer’s satisfaction is the principal concern for the company, adding any time customers call the attention of the company the staffs respond as quickly as possible to make sure customers get all they need from the company.
According to him, his company never compromised with quality and quantity construction for its customers because the company’s aims is to satisfy any person who pay for a service on one way or the other, adding his structures are quality and up to standard as he works based on modern standard.
This company has competent teams including masons, laborers, electricians that can render excellent services to their customers without delay.
“My company is unique as it has experts on all dimension of works and they put professionalism ahead of their service than any other things,” he noted.
Meanwhile, he said the conditions of the buildings depend on financial spending of the customers because one has to spend much in order to have standard house.
In additional the young entrepreneur reiterated that his construction company works on different aspects, saying customer can give him a contract to build their structures completely and give a key to enter in their home.
He told Business Focus that customers can also provide all the needed materials for the construction and discuss with him on the construction payment.
“Nevertheless, in this case the company have to advise the customers the kind of building materials they need to purchase and where to purchase them to ensure we do fantastic work for them,” the entrepreneur stated.
He added: “We will give our customers a year defect liability period, after handing over the key to our customers. We will be doing all renovation in that particular structure when necessary and that will be free cost. The company render these services just to satisfy our customers, but we hardly experience such issues because our work is always quality.”
He reiterated that the company is attracting attention of Gambians because he does not compromise with the eminence and magnitude in his work.
Touray pointed out that he does not belief in travelling to USA or Europe to become wealthy, adding he never admire Gambian who travel to abroad.
According to Touray, he has the believed that he can accomplish his aspirations in the country without moving an inch for greener pasture abroad.
“The different is not Europe, the different is hard work, is easy to get money in the country,” Touray revealed while in smiling face.
He further observed that he does not advertise to attract customers but his business is bumming on daily basis, saying his company does not need advertisement on media because the good work he does will advertise him in all part of the country.
Touray sky is the limit of his business and he wants the company to live forever as he is on the verge to move on international level to construct houses, roads, bridges among other infrastructures.
Mr. Touray said he had great ambition for his motherland and he wants Gambia to reach to the level of Dubai, USA and other developed countries across the globe.
He noted that to develop the country will be easy if the citizens are dedicated to hard work.
He called on the general public to work with his company while assured affordable, reliable and extraordinary services for his customers to ensure they get the standard homes they want to live in.
