Ousainou Darboe, Leader and Secretary General for the United Democratic Party (UDP) have called on his party member and supporters to unite for the development of the party.
He stressed that the UDP’s Regional Chairpersons need to execute their functions very well appropriately to ensure that the party attain its political aspiration in the country.
Darboe, who doubles as the country’s Vice President made the remark in a political rally held on Saturday the 5th of January, 2019; at India Village in Upper Badibou Constituency, North Bank Region of The Gambia.
“If you want to take the Gambia to where you want it reach to, you have to get one voice. That is why we formed the party and called it United Democratic Party. We want to establish one voice in the party with three households. However, these three households includes “peace, justice and progress,” he said.
He added that unity and straight- forwardness are the significant instruments for national development, saying that each and every individual should get his or her rights because peace cannot be accomplished in the absent of justice, “noting that any where you see development, the fellow must know that there is peace.
VP Darboe affirmed that no country under the planet can be built in the absent of peace and tranquility, adding that the development of a country cannot be attained without peace and stability in that particular nation.
“Peace, Justice and Progress cannot be achieved if the leaders of that particular place are not straight- forward and honest. A leader must be trustworthy, hopeful to ensure development; thus I have to congratulate the UDP executives in NBR because the region have trust on you, mandated you to lead the party here [NBR]; you should exercise good behaviors and put the party’s concerns forefront,” Lawyer Darboe applauded the UDP executives in NBR before thousands of supporters in stronghold.
Speaking further, VP Darboe said the aforesaid executives have a lot of works to do for the political party, adding that the NBR executives should make sure that they execute their functions to the expectation as they are entrusted by the party’s militants to handle the mantle of leadership in the region.
He urged them [UDP militants] to behave like the late Hassan Musa Camara, Kebba Tamba Jammeh among other good politicians to ensure the development of the political party.
He called on his party’s militants especially the executives to execute their functions rightfully so that the public will not be suspicious of them,
He urged the public to utilize the social media positively and void using it to castigate one another by citing that Gambians used the social media to play a crucial role in eliminating the Ex –President Yahya Jammeh’s dictatorial regime.
