Following opinions published against his company, the Managing Director of GM Lottery Company has dismissed claims of fraud in his company, stressing some people have been paid to tarnish his company’s image.
He made the remarks at a presentation of cheques amounting to D85, 000 to two lucky winners, namely Ahmed J. Keita and Arymandu Mendy respectively.
Mendy received D25, 000, cheque, while Keita was given D60, 000 cheque during the presentation held at the company office along the West Field – Brikama Highway
Both winners expressed gratitude to GM Lottery Company Limited for living up to expectations.
Speaking to Journalists in his office, Mr George Smart, the company managing director expressed delight that his company is up and running well.
”We are always happy to pay our customers and we have no interest in holding peoples’ money when they win”, he pointed out.
Mr Smart further dismissed claims that his company is not involved in scam, describing such as false rumours and are spread by disgruntled elements who are paid to stain his company’s image.
He said some bad elements went online to effect changes in some of their raffle tickets, with a view to commit fraud- with intend to tarnish the company’s image. He added that such act was detected and addressed accordingly.
according to him, the individual further went to write on local newspaper, which he disclosed the report to Journalists during brief conversation in his office, describing the author as people being paid to tarnish his company’s image.
Smart urged his customers to be aware of people being paid to bend on publishing false claims in newspapers geared towards tarnishing his company’s image, calling customers not to listen to such people.
Smart also recalled that his company started operating in May 2016, and paid the biggest Jackpot of D304, 300 in January 2018.
He disclosed that his company employ 160 dedicated staff to meet their customers’ satisfaction, noting that GM Lottery started operating in The Gambia under the former regime, but was closed by the then Government’s orders against all Lottery companies.
He also said GM Lottery reopened after the change of Government in 2016.
Winners, Mr Keita described playing lottery as a clean game and has no problems, noting that ”the way you win is the way you are paid.”
The second winner, Mendy said he has been playing the Game in Senegal, before coming to The Gambia. He assured that he will continue to play the game, and will continue to inspire others to also play, as there is gain
