Some concerned citizens of Central River Region, CRR, have reminded President Adama Barrow that ‘it is not alright in their communities’.
The few concern citizens who spoke to The Voice newspaper in an exclusive interview said they are not feeling Coalition Government’s development agendas.
“It is very sad that our community is not even blessed with a pharmacy talk less of a hospital. We felt totally neglected. Due to the undeveloped nature of our region sometimes led us ask whether we even have a government in the country,” said one Ousman Sowe.
Mr. Sowe further emphasised the poor poverty condition of the region, disclosing that they always found it very difficult to reach out to the major hospital in Bansang for treatment. He added that due to which the pregnant women in region sometimes deliver in homes or even in streets.
He said that it is very sad that leaders of a country that cannot achieve a meaningful development after fifty years of independence will still fly out to Europe for treatment while some regions suffer without good health center
He said as a community they sometimes wonder when will they move out of such conditions, adding that President Barrow was their beacon of hope but unfortunately he is acting so strange to them.
“We thought he would have concentrate on the promises he made during the presidential campaign instead starting to talk about his political ambitions,” he added.
Mariama Jallow also a resident of Central River Region, said: “As women we always vote with the hope that we will be provided with health care services, water, food, electricity and other amenities, however, it is disappointing and tragic that after fifty years of independence the situation remains the same in our communities.
“We want to call on President Barrow and his administration to remember us. They should understand that we also human beings and we are part of the country. We deserve some respect and some amount of consideration for development as tax payers, ” she stressed.
Modou Ceesay, also a residence of CRR said President Barrow should remember that the country is at a cross road, adding that Gambians hopes are highly vested on him.
