National Council for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged communities in North Bank Region to strengthen political tolerance to sustain peaceful co- existence.
The engagement happened at Noo Kunda, Minteh Kunda, Mandori, and Gunjur held under the theme: “Entrenching Democratic Governance and National Cohesion for a peaceful and prosperous Gambia.”
Kebba O Jobe, Program Officers of NCCE underscored the need for communities and individuals to promote political tolerance to enhance sustainable peaceful and democratization process.
“The purpose of the community outreach program is to create public awareness on the significant people participation in strengthen democratic process in the country,” he said.
He reiterated for people to embrace political tolerance to consolidate peaceful co-existence. The sensitization would contribute to behavior change and dispel misconception on democracy.
Junkung Saidy, also program officer, NCCE commended the communities for their support and call on them to support government in strengthen democratic dispensation, respect for rule of law and promote popular participation in national development.
The communities’ leaders expressed appreciation to NCCE for engaging different peoples and communities on political tolerance and respect for rule and uphold fundamental human rights.
