Smile African Orphans (SAO); a Gambia and US registered non-profit charity organization in the state of Washington, United States have donated 12 bags of rice and clothing to Orphans at Wullinkama Islamic school, last Saturday.
The organisation was founded by Njemeh Bah; a US-based Gambian female journalist and social worker to support African underprivileged Orphans and their families by giving them hope for a bright future.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Lady Njemeh said the charity maintains a 501 (C) (3) status that earns it tax-exemption qualification.
She said, she created the charity to help Orphan, saying she was raised by her late mother and was a victim of early marriage that upset her early education and became a single mother.
“I dreamt of a world without poverty; a world in which all persons have the freedom and opportunities to pursue happiness and achieve their maximum potential,” she added.
Mariama Jarju, English teacher at Jawhariatou Islamic school thanked Lady Njemeh and her team for the support they gave to Jawhariatou orphans, saying they would still need support in the provision of tables, chairs, blackboards, classrooms and other educational materials.
