Opposition Alliance for Patriotic Re-Orientation and Construction (APRC) has vowed to rule The Gambia again despite the allegations levelled against them as they called for the return of ex-president Jammeh.
The party made the vowed at its jubilant rally in Brikama over the weekend which brought together hundreds of its supporters across the country.
Fabakary Tombong Jatta, the interim leader of the party said the rally has clearly demonstrated that “it is only the next presidential election that will show and this is stuck between APRC and Yahya Jammeh from going back to statehouse.”
“People do ask whether Jammeh will come back or not, I want to tell you that you should have asked when Jammeh will come back but not whether he shall come. This is his country and nothing can stop him from coming to this country,” he added.
Mr. Jatta also renewed his called for the Independent Electoral Commission chairman to resign, added by stating that because of what the entire IEC boss said after Jammeh was defeated, they do not have confidence in him anymore and that they deemed any election he leads as not transparent.
National Assembly Member for Foni Kansala, Musa Amul Nyassi, said that APRC Party will rule the Gambia again ‘At all cost’, saying; there is nothing that can come between them and the Statehouse, as he rubbished the claims that his party used to bring people from Cassamance to vote for them during presidential elections.
He said that whenever one is on top of the other, the enemies will always come up with allegations and counter allegations just to tarnish the image.
He said that: “The APRC is ready and nothing can come between us and the Statehouse. Any party that want to be part of the next government should come and join the APRC if not you will have no chance of making it in the next government.”
He then said despite all the smear campaign against the former ruling party, the party’s supporters remains relatively strong and unaffected, adding that “the rally has demonstrated that Gambians have lost confidence in the Barrow Administration.”
The Coalition Government has failed. They have clearly manifested that they are not able to fill the vacuum that is left by Jammeh and the mighty APRC.
The former APRC Banjul North parliamentarian, Lai Saine asserted that former President Jammeh is a Gambian and nothing can stop him from coming back to the country.
Dodou Jah, APRC Deputy Spokesperson, said that the Coalition Government is making a big mistake by continuously keeping Jammeh in exile.
