Ebrima Sillah, Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure, has urged Gambians to embrace cyber security as he said there cannot be a national security if there is no cyber security and data private.
Mr. Sillah, was speaking during the celebration of international privacy day held at Westfield Youth Monument on Monday.
He added that Gambia government recognized the important of both internet and data privacy and cyber security as critical edibles acceleration growth and social economic development.
He explained that “On our national development planned (NDP). My ministry as the armed of the government mandated to accelerate the country digital agenda and infrastructure.
According to him, ministry of information communication and infrastructure is fascinating the Wi-Fi connection to all ministry department and agency to support the ongoing E-government programmed, beside the infrastructure development.
Amadou A Bah, president of The Gambia Cyber Security Alliance (GCSA), described cyber security as a professional organization with a view to promote to advocate and create awareness on the country.
Cyber security data protection information and communication technology with policies and regulation with requite accessed to public information and nitrating by extension.
He added: “(GCSA) came into a base and that was held at Dakar Senegal on April 2016 among our focus areas are build strong public and private partnership in order to create and internet education in cyber security to empower Gambian with the information they need to keep themselves.”
Lamin Darboe, executive director National Youth Council said: “Because when we talk about our data and talk about our information we can agree that securing our data or securing our information had become major challenge in the resent pass and often most of the insecurity or the vulnerabilities are either cost by us in one way or we become the victim in other way.”
