26 health personnel and journalists concluded nine days Training of Trainers (TOT) Course on Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) for Substance Use Disorders at a local hotel in Kololi recently.
The training was organized by the Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Program (DAP) and funded by Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), US Department of State with support from International Center for Credentialing and Education of Addiction Professionals (ICCE) and coordinated by the Drug Law Enforcement Agency the Gambia (DLEAG) office.
The training covered the following thematic course areas namely; Physiology and Pharmacology for Addiction Professionals and Treatment for Substance use Disorders-The Continuum of Care for Addiction Professionals.
Tijan Bah deputy director general DLEAG urged participants to shared knowledge gained with colleagues who were not at the training, while he commended the training facilitators from Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Sri Lanka.
Bah said, as Gambia first national Trainers of Training (TOT) in Universal Treatment Curriculum UTC for Substance Use Disorders, his office and sister agencies will render unflinching support.
Baba Manneh nursing officer at Tanka-Tanka Psychiatrist Center described the training as a success; noting that they learnt knew things which will add values to their work.
He assured DLEAG of utilizing the knowledge gained during the training as certificates were presented to the participants.
