One Sulayman Sawaneh, a native of Njaba Kunda but currently residing in Denmark for the past 30-years on Friday donated first-ever instrument washing machine and other valuable medicaments to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul and Home for ElderlyCenter at Bakoteh.
The presentation of the medical itemsmeant for EFSTH was held at the hospital campus thus attended by the hospital’s senior management and philanthropist Gambian partners.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the donor, Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh informed the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Amadou Lamin Samateh of what he has been doing in the health sector for the 20 years.
“These medical items I am giving out to the health sectors in the countryfor the past 20 years were from own pocket and not a single person in Denmark puts his or her money on it,” Sawaneh explained.
According to Sawaneh, he is doing this kind gesture in order to uplift the living condition of Gambians, noting that he is not looking for fame, neither position but want to contribute his part in nation building as Gambian.
He extended his profound gratitude to Dr. Samateh and his senior staff for giving him the opportunity to donate these medical items to EFSTH without hindrance.
Gambian-Danish based philanthropist, Sulayman Sawaneh assured EFSTH management of his continue unflinching support to the health sector in the country.
For his quota, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH), Dr. AmadouL amin Samateh on behalf of the management and the entire staff of the hospital expressed his thanks to the donor for his timely donation.
“This Instrument Washing Machine you donated cannot be found within any Africa hospital much more here in the Gambia. You are the first Gambian to donate this machine to EFSTH which will really help us a lot in our daily work,” Dr. Samateh informed the donor.
Dr. Samateh assured the donor(Sulayman Sawaneh) that the items he donated to the hospital will be put into better useas the hospital is currently in need of them.
He assured of the commencement of the fruitful relationship between the donor and the health sector in the country especially EFSTH, while called on other Gambians abroad and within to emulate Sawaneh’s good gesture.
Kalilu Jaiteh and Lamin Jaiteh both the donor’s Gambian counterparts informed Dr. Samateh and his team of what Sulayman Sawaneh has done in the health sector and other sectors in the country.
The duo described Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh as a patriotic citizen whose contribution to nation building from the four corners of this since the former regime era to date cannot go unnoticed.
In another development, Sawaneh over the weekend presented six mattresses, one fridge, Kettle for boiling wateramong others to Home for Elders Center at Bakoteh.
