Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) leader Mamma Kandeh has told his compatriot that he is nobody but a ‘Fula’ and he cannot be member of any tribe as God has destined him.
He made the remarks at the first Congress of Tabitaal Pulaagu Mbo, the Gambia Fulani International Organization on Saturday which organized its first National Congress to elect new executives members at a local hotel.
Tabitaal Pulaagu is an international organization aimed at uniting the Fula language and also addressing the welfare and challenges of Fula’s ethnic group across the globe.
Kandeh commended the organizers and also described the event as first of its kind in Gambians Fulas clan.
He told the participants and organizers that he was not there for position and his main interest is to unite the Fulas and stress that development would go with unity.
Omar Sampo Ceesay, the outgoing Interim Leader of TPMG called Fulas to unite to attain development goals while he commended those that have contributed to the unification of Fulas in the Gambia and beyond.
TPMG’S Public Relation Officer (PRO), Mr. Alieu Jallow said that the organization is non-political, aims to foster unity and harmony among Fulas in the Gambia as well and will also help in addressing new executives at a local Hotel.
Tabitaal Pulaagu is an International Fulani Organization aimed at uniting and promoting the Fulas on their challenges.
He urged the new executive members to work in the best interest of all with Fula presenters in major TVs and Radio Stations in country. He then noted that this will help to improve the awareness of the language.
Ousman Sowe, President of Fulbeh Africa [Fula local organization] described the congress as a greatest event organized by Gambians Fulas, while he calls for unity noting that without unity the tribe will find things difficult to achieve its desire.
Cherno Ousman Bah, an executive member called on Fulas to respect the constitution of the Gambia and avoid anything that will be detrimental to peace and stability of the country.
Seedy Dem was elected as the President of the Organization while Saidou Sowe was chosen as Vice President (VP1) and Jainaba Sowe (VP2), Geda Jawo (VP3), Lamin Bag as Secretary General and Alieu Jallow was given the position of PRO. At the same time, others were also nominated for various positions.
