Supersonic Microfinance Financial Services has injected over D4 million to purchase groundnut in the Lower and Central Baddibou Districts in the North Bank Region of the Gambia recently.
The institution has spent over D4million on 232 tons purchased from farmers from 13 January to 11th February.
The move is meant for supporting farmers to enhance food production and buying of groundnut from farmers and providing loan to women to venture in to small business and by extension promote the culture of saving.
This year participation and involvement of Supersonic Financial Services in to groundnut season and buying groundnut with the same farm gate price with GGC.
Demba Marena, Operation Supervisor at Supersonic branch in Farafenni, told The Voice in in Suwareh Kunda that the institute attaches great in complementing government efforts in providing marketing outlet for groundnut farmers in the region.
Marena revealed that the buying has been extended to Njaba Kunda to allow other farmers in Upper Baddibou to sell their nut.
According to him, recently Supersonic has disbursed D1million to three villages in Daru Rilwan and Kerewan Yiriwa Kafos to allow and enhance women participation in small medium enterprise development and by extension contribute to poverty reduction.
Chief Alagie Jagne of Njaba Kunda commended Supersonic for the foresight in extending their market to the people of Central Baddibou.
He said the farmers were very much pleased with the support provided to farmers in the groundnut sub sector with loaning women groups.
