Hon Majanko Samusa, a nominated member at the National Assembly has said that Majority Leader Kebba KK .Barrow has misled the nation in regard of the resolution he read on Monday after the all-party caucus held at the National Assembly, Banjul.
Hon Samusa, a veteran National Assembly member told The Voice that: “I was disappointed as a National Assembly member to hear such information from the Majority Leader saying that both two parties at the national assembly signed the petition letter to disagree with the President’s decision of revoking Ya Kumba Jaiteh as a nominated member of the National Assembly.”
He explained that caucus meeting and resolution are quite different, in any committee or caucus meeting their must be an attendance register that they sign and the Majority Leader used the list to informed the public that both parties at the National Assembly disagreed with the decision of the President.
“How on earth could majority leader with the trust we put on him deliberately misled the public with dishonesty by given fake information to the public,” he queried.
“As a National Assembly Member,” he stressed, “you need to have a dignity for the public to entrust their trust on you. You are not supposed to mislead the nation by giving fake statements.”
He however pointed out that there is no single party that can pass or impede any resolution in the national assembly and succeed.
Meanwhile, it could be recalled that on 25 February, 2019, Ebrima O. Camara, Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service wrote a letter to dismiss Ya Kumba Jaiteh, a nominated member to the National Assembly informing her executive decision taken to revoke her nomination as national assembly member, with immediate effect.
In respect of that 31 members of the National Assembly held an emergency caucus meeting on Monday based on the issue and came up with a resolution read by Hon. Kebba KK Barrow, Majority Leader that they will not recognize the dismissal of Ya Kumba Jaiteh, the nominated member.
