Minority Leader Rejects NA Resolution

Samba Jallow, Minority leader of the National Assembly yesterday has rejected the resolution of the National Assembly read by Majority Leader Kebba Barrow did not follow the right procedure.

Earlier on, Mr Ebrima O. Camara, Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service has written a letter to dismiss  Ya Kumba Jaiteh, a nominated member of the National Assembly informing her the executive decision to revoke her nomination as national assembly member, with immediate effect .

However, 31 members of the National Assembly have held an emergency caucus on Monday on the issue and came up with a resolution read by Hon. Kebba K.K Barrow, Majority leader will not recognize the dismissal of nominated member Ya Kumba Jaiteh.

Jallow, also a member of Niamina Dankunku said the meeting that they had was an informal one and there were people who did not agree with the resolutions they have written.

Jallow said a caucus has no authority to write a resolution, adding that such decisions can only be made by the plenary.

“I refused to sign the resolution as the Minority Leader,” said Jallow. He said that the list shared with journalists claiming to be those who signed the resolution is inaccurate.

“That was an attendance list,” said Jallow. “It is a fraudulent act…”

Jallow said there were a number of them at the meeting who did not agreed with the course of actions taken.
