Medina Sering Crowns Champ in Fass Saho Final

Madina Serign Mass has been crowned champions of Fass Omar Saho championship after thrashing Kayel by a goal to nil courtesy of Haruna Nyass in the 5 minutes of the game Sunday in the North Bank Region.

The game brought together people from the community and its satellite villages as they poured the football field on their horse carts, motorbike, bicycles and others on foots.

Medina Sering Mass went home with D10, 000 whiles Kayel pocketed home D6000 as consolation prize contested among sixteen (16) teams.

Both team commenced the game in an average temperature as Kayel boys pressed the Madina Serign boys forcefully immediately after the goal.

The football committee said the tournament aimed at developing and supporting football and footballers in the area and produce productive footballers for the national team of the country and various clubs both home and abroad.

Baboucarr Njie, sponsor said: “We have a vision to develop youth and grassroots football to higher level; therefore, we decided to come up with a programme to develop grassroots football because that is the only way the country can succeed in the football.”

Coach Mamut Njie of Madina Serign Mass expressed happiness for the victory saying his boys were doing well throughout the game, adding that he appreciated the performance of his team.

He expressed concern over the size of the football, noting that the people of the two districts have interest for football but the football pitch is not up to standard.

Mr. Njie commended the organizers for their effort while hoping them to sustain the initiative and improve its condition.

For his part, ,Katim Gaye  coach of Kayel commended his boys for the tremendous effort saying they perform better but is just God did not destine the team to get the victory.

According to him, he conceded in the early first half of the game because his opponents scored in the early minutes of the game, adding he pushed harder immediately after the goal but there was no possibility for him to equalize.
