The ECOWAS Permanent mission in The Gambia yesterday issued a statement informing the general public that former ECOWAS Commission Vice President Mr. Edward Singhateh is no longer a staff of the ECOWAS Commission as purported by the Freedom Newspaper.
In a statement signed by Vabah K. Gayflor, ECOWAS representative to the Gambia revealed that the vice President of ECOWAS Commission is Mrs. Finda Koroma, a Sierra Leonean, who immediately took over from Mr. Edward Singhateh in 2018.
The regional bloc also called on the media to crosscheck its stories with the body before publication.
“The Freedom Newspaper and other media houses including the print, electronic and social media are therefore advised to crosscheck information with the ECOWAS Permanent Mission in The Gambia located at No. 1258 Miss Nadinas Street , off Bertil Harding Highway, Kerr Serign, West Coast Region, The Gambia to avoid the misinformation of the public,” the press release stated.
ECOWAS Permanent Mission in The Gambia remains seized to work with the media within it mandate to ensure sustainable peace and security and development in The Gambia.
