Constitutional Review Commission has said to launch a 30 days national survey due on March, 18 to April this year.
The survey aims to facilitate the collection and analysis of data through a scientific and statistical sound approach.
A commission mandated to review and draft the 1997 constitution and prepare a report draft of a new constitution to the president within a period of 18 months.
Meanwhile, the commission on Tuesday commenced two day training for 66 non-staff of CRC at NaNA offices along Bertil Harding highway that will be followed by a day practical filed exercise.
Fifty two (52) participants would be selected out of the 66 participants with 12 supervisors whom would be coming from the CRC regional coordinators and 40 enumerators for the survey.
Four hundred and sixty three (463) enumeration areas to be visited by CRC staff and the enumerators to collect the required information on prescribed questionnaires during the survey.
In his opening remarks, Omar Ousman Jobe, secretary to CRC, said the household sample survey will enable the CRC to determine the percentage of the people who are in favor of any given constitutional issue.”
He urged the public to give their support to the enumerators and supervisors during the survey, adding it would help to encourage people randomly selected households to participate in the process of making the new constitution and complement and supplement qualitative information obtain from the public consultation.
“The CRC shall continue to discharge its function and mandate in an independent and objective manners and in the spirit of participation,” Mr. Jobe said.
Muhammed Assan Loum, head of program at CRC, also echoed similar remarks and hoped for a successful training and urged non-staff to be selected on the survey to return all properties of CRC except the T-Shirt, adding that participants would be certificated after the training.
