The Rotary Club of Brusubi, The Gambia and the Rotary Club of Cleveland, UK, donated 400 chairs and 200 tables to Jabang Lower Basic School
The gesture is in response to the need for school furniture thus enabling pupils to receive their education in as comfortable environment.
After one year of planning between the two clubs, the furniture was finally delivered to the beneficiaries.
The Akalo, school headmaster, teachers, faculty, staff, and students expressed profound excitement and joy upon receiving the materials.
It was a priceless experience which provides strong motivation for both clubs to continue delivering this form of assistance.
“The children were so happy and jubilant with the arrival of such needed equipment. We look forward to coming back to do this many more times,” expressed Phil and Sue Taylor representing the Rotary Club of Cleveland.
According to Mr. Jow a teacher said this has been the school problem since, adding that children come to class with nowhere to sit and some standing on their feet.
“It is very difficult to learn in that situation,” Jawo pointed tout.
Rotarian Christian Jorgenson of Brusubi spent countless hours to make sure that the container was delivered in a timely manner.
