Aid 4 Gambia, a charitable organization donated medical equipment to the SereKunda general hospital on Wednesday.
The medical equipment includes; wheel chairs, uniform for the Nurses and other valuable materials that will be useful to the hospital.
Muhammed Ayoub, chairman of the organization described the donation as his organization work to give helping hand to hospitals in the Gambia, noting that hospital in the Gambia needs help.
He pointed out that government alone cannot provide all the medical equipment and needs for it peoples and that is the reason his organization decided give helping hand to major hospitals in the country.
“Usually we help schools by donating them with books, computer and other items and we are trying to help people whenever their need arises,” he said.
Ayoub further assured that he will try to convince his colleagues so that they can help him to support the needs in the Gambia, revealing that his next plan is to build a Nursery School and orphanage center around.
He also disclosed that last week his organization donated medical equipment to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul and he optimist that the donated equipment will be useful to the hospital.
Suleiman Shao, National Assembly Member for central Caribou and also member of the organization noted that this is the first time the organization comes out to support health centers most especially the major hospital in the country.
According to him, government cannot do it in the areas of development it needs partners that will support development the country agenda.
Abubacarr Sane, administrator at Serrekunda general hospital described the donation as one of the biggest and benefited the most densely populated area in the Gambia which comprises of 600.000, which they are working.
He said their philosophy and vision is to provide the highest possible quality of health services to the people who visit the hospital.
He pointed out that health service is very expensive anywhere especially in the developing countries, adding that the government alone cannot do it all but with such support from good partners will solve the hospital problems.
“If you visit the hospital, you will find out that some wards need wheel chairs in other to transport patients from one unit to another but with this gesture of the wheel chairs, mobility and movement of patients will be easy now,” he pointed out.
He noted that files and folders are needed because they are keys in their job and every patient needs accurate information about their health issue and it will also help in terms of record keeping.
