Prominent cashew farmer in Kerr Jarga Jobe of Jokadou has called on cashew farmers to be vigilant and treat cashew from insects during flowering stage to enhance production .
Hamat Cham known as (Pa Cham) was speaking to The Voice at his cashew farm in Kerr Jarga in the North bank region. He said diversification in farming is crucial to attain food production and Sustainable environmental management.
According to him, spraying of cashew during flowering, enhance production for longer period and by extension increase income and contribute to production
Cham also calls for government intervention to enforce control of stray animals like livestock, as they destroyed farms, adding that there is need for department of agriculture to train cashew farmers on value addition on fresh flesh to boast nutrition and income.
He commended the regional agricultural director Mustapha Drammeh for his personal support and encouragement in providing proper treatment of cashew. He calls on other farmers to provide fire belt around to avoid destruction.
