The annual Fish The Gambia’s Fishing Championship 2019 kicked-off on Sunday morning at Sambouya fishing point.
The Tourism and Fishing Sports Competition which started eight years ago is now a household name in The Gambia. The annual tourism and fishing sports competition is organized by Fish The Gambia in collaboration with the Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) with supports from GTBoard, Sasco Import and Export, Heineken, Al Terrace, Namaqua Maroun’s Supermaket, Goddard’s Water Sport, Vineyard, Hendrick’s Gin, Glenfiddich, Gifts R Us, Cody’s Swiss Tavern, Swiss Boutique, Green Mamba Garden, Best Water, Cottage Garden, Reo’s, El Sol and Smart Media.
The competition, as usual featuring both local and international anglers.
Addressing the anglers at the opening ceremony held in Green Mamba Garden, Ousman Kebbeh noted that the competition will give the participants more opportunity to exploit and experience the Smiling Coast and as well engage in different activities during their stay in the country.
He said fishing is one big product known worldwide and The Gambia has abundance fish and numerous species.
Kebbeh said GTBoard over the times always partnering with the team on beach casting because it is a market that need to develop further.
Lazar Kujabi, Senior manager for activities and promotions welcomed participants to the competition and expressed GTBoard delight on the competitions. Also, he used the opportunity to invite the anglers to the GTBoard upcoming annual Gambia International Boat Fishing Competition slated for 11th to 16th November 2019.
