Barrow Cannot be Proud over Change of Gov’t–Brikama North NAM

By: Lamin B. Darboe

Senior member of the UDP who double as the National Assembly Member (NAM) for Brikama North, Alhahie S. Darboe has told party militants that President Adama Barrow cannot be proud of change of government in the presence UDP.

“Relieving UDP members from the coalition government is not a betrayal but instead is a “Broad-day Light Cheating against the party,” he described Darboe and others sacking.

He said President  Barrow is sitting on their sweat, tears, blood, stressing  that UDP will never forgive him (Barrow) for his blatant “Broad-day Light Cheating against UDP.

He pointed out that the coalition government does not belong to President Barrow alone and if Barrow decided that UDP should not be part of the coalition government that means he cheated UDP in a broad-day light.

According to Darboe, the coalition agreement stated that anyone who was elected as coalition president, he/she cannot take decision alone within the government circle without consulting the coalition members.

The coalition agreement he added, stated that each political part in the coalition should have a share in the government even though the president may have the power to hire and fire.

“Respect the Will of the coalition member’s agreement by giving them their rightful share which they deserve for each political party to have representation within the government in which you (Barrow) is leading today.

He pointed out that President Barrow think that government is his own biological government, noting that President Barrow is making a great mistake which in future will dance to his own tune.

“I am calling on Mr. Barrow to form his own political party and test whether he will be popular or not because for UDP it is a political party that is for all Gambians which he (Barrow) is well aware of from the onset to date,” Darboe said.

Darboe noted that the people of The Gambia are interested in the coalition government agenda that will restore good governance, Democracy, rule of law and fundamental human right in the country not something outside.

He called on Barrow to resign honorably if only his intention is to form his own political party so that Gambians can go to poll.
