Trust Bank Supports NCAC with Over D70,000 To Revamp Newspaper Library

As the world depend heavily on information and research from major publications, the Trust Bank Limited Thursday presented a cheque in the sum of D72,525.00 (Seventy-Two Thousand, Five Hundred and Twenty-Five Dalasi) to the National Center for Arts and Culture (NCAC) as a support to the revamping of the Newspaper Library of NCAC in Fajara.

The handing over of the cheque is one of the latest Trust Bank’s gestures to the National Center for Arts and Culture since begins of the two institutions partnership  in 2010.

Hassoum Ceesay, acting Managing Director of NCAC expressed the center’s delight on the presented cheque for the revamping of the Newspaper Library of NCAC.

DG Hassoum gave a background of the newspaper archive of the NCAC which collection started in 1981 while in 2013 with the support of Trust Bank NCAC were able to bound one hundred volumes of newspapers for preservation and research.

Among importance of the Newspaper Library of NCAC, he stated that the library serves as source of The Gambia history, an extension of classroom for school and university students, researchers, information collectors among other people.

He encouraged Trust Bank Limited to always display its products in every NCAC’s sites or present.

Njilan Senghore, Deputy Managing Director – Trust Bank Limited disclosed that the bank donated to NCAC because the center “is responsible for fostering, developing and improving the knowledge, understanding and practice of our Arts and Culture and their preservation, execution and exhibition.”

She described arts and culture as a key part of the Gambia heritage that help to know and celebrate the country’s diversity as it brings everyone closer as a people, “as a proudly Gambian Bank and a stakeholder, Trust Bank Limited became a natural partner to NCAC.”

Madam Senghore therefore reiterated her bank commitment of further support the development and promotion of the sector in The Gambia.

She however acknowledged and applauded the incredible work the center is doing in the promotion of arts and culture and assured them their commitment to further strengthen and expand the scope of the partnership for the benefit of the people of The Gambia.

Sutay Jawo, Deputy Permanent Secretary Ministry of Tourism and Culture applauded Trust Bank for their support on the Revamping of the Newspaper Library of NCAC.

He assured them of utilizing the money rightfully as expected and also to continue support the center.

Oremi Joiner, Chairman BoD NCAC commended Trust Bank Limited for their all round supports to the NCAC especially in their collaboration with the center to produce something that is Gambia, which examples are visible in their (Trust Bank) unique annual published calendars using as teaching aid in schools.

Joy Nwamah, Human Resource Manager – NCAC on behalf of the center thanked Trust Bank Limited for their regular supports to the center.
