Youth Empowerment: IDEAS Ready to Create Jobs

IDEAS Creative and Innovative, a   youth empowerment organization is working create jobs opportunity to cut down     unemployment gap in the youthful population of the country.

Ida Jeng, executive director cum founder of IDEAS Creative and Innovative, told The Voice in an interview that her organization focused on empowering young people and promoting arts and culture as well as employment opportunities.

We promotes youth in the arts and culture by nurturing their skills and give them employment,” she said in her office along Kairaba Avenue on Friday April 5.

Ideas Creative and Innovative is an international non- governmental organization (NGO) established in 2012 and registered in 2015 to promote youth empowerment and employment especially  in the area of youth, performing arts in the Gambia and Africa.

According to her, the organization is looking forward to create sustainable job opportunities for Gambian youth especially those in the arts sector.

She revealed that currently the organization is supporting artist in area of recording and   this helping artists execute their services as expected.

“We organized fund raising activities, plea for donors to support and do certain commercial services to have funds to implement some activities for the youthful population,” she pointed out.

She further disclosed that the management will be organizing fundraising gala dinner to   mobilize resource in for the implementation of its forthcoming activities such as creating permanent jobs for one hundred young people.

Madam Jeng also said that the first phase for the youth empowerment will focus on twenty- five youth, noting those youth will be train on skills work such as firming and photographing.

“We will provide the necessary materials for them after their graduation for them commence their private business,” she added.

She stated that her office will work with the regional youth coordinators to distribute the forms to interested young people to attend the training, adding after the graduation they will do the shortlisting and the successful   candidates will be call for the final training and distribution of working equipment’s.

She urged young people who want become professional photographers to apply for the training whenever the forms are out.

She also encourage   drop out from school with basic skills in computer to apply, noting that photography need that skills for editing of pictures and videos.

Madam Jeng called on development partners to support her initiative in order to help in addressing the high unemployment rate in the country as well to contribute to the national and socio economy development.
