The seven Gambian political parties and one independent candidate that created the field and support a unity candidate in the 2016 presidential election will meet tomorrow Saturday and Monday to discuss the future of the coalition 2016, source confirmed to The Voice yesterday.
The parties in the coalition are United democratic party (UDP), People’s Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS), the National Reconciliation Party (NRP), the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC), the National Convention Party (NCP), the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and the Gambia Party for Democracy and Progress (GPDP).
The independent female candidate and anti-female genital mutilation activist Dr Isatou Touray and a civil society group headed by Fatoumatta Tambajang also joined the coalition.
Meanwhile reliable source informed The Voice that the meeting is for Saturday and Monday to allow those working to participate and also for logistic arrangement and the venue.
Asked who will chair the meeting, source said the forum will be chair by Coalition Chairperson, Madame Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang and leaders will discuss series of issues which is on the agenda.
