A group of Gambian returnees has established a poultry, investor class B vegetable production, small ruminants, food Processing and advocacy center on illegal migration projects with the reintegration funds received from International Organization of Migration (IOM).
Group Chairman Alagie Muhamed Camara, commended the community of Nuimi Berending and the village development committee (VDC) for allocation of 200×64×100 land to Gambia returnees from illegal migration commonly known as (Back way).
Mamina Jallow group auditor, said member has agreed on the terms and conditions on the management of fund sand the group will embark on advocacy caravan dubbed Ataya session caravan on safe security and protection of migrant through Mediterranean road.
The sensitization tours will kick start from 23rd to 30th April and the event is funded by IOM.
He added that the sensitization will target Berending, Buniadou, Ndungu Kebbeh and Fass Njaga Choi.
He also disclosed that the group will buy 1500 broilers and 1500 layers for the poultry project
Amie Cham member from Sukuta hailed Italian International NGO Center for International Cooperation Migration for building their capacity on food processing.
She said the first production package was donated to Binding Maternal and Child Health Hospital, while she expressed challenges faced by the group such as lack of fence, water shortage, seed and toilets.
She appeal to government and other development partners to support them with fencing, seed, farm house and tri cycles.
Muhamed Sonko VDC chairman of Berending commended the youths for their foresight and assured council of elders of Berending support and cooperation.
He calls on the government to support the group towards realization of their objectives.
Members of the group commended International Organization on Migration and government of the Gambia for airlifting them from Libya to the Gambia.
