Al-Khair Foundation Donates Food Items to 50 Families

A UK based organisation Al-Khair Foundation distributed Ramadan 2019 food pack in The Gambia through Hear Women-The Gambia and food items includes rice, sugar, oil, milk and tea.

Fifty families benefited from the distribution at the Bakau Community Centre Arabic School on May18, 2019.

The presentation came under the courtesy of the funder Al-Khair Foundation and its implementing partner Hear Women-The Gambia generosity to extend its benevolence to support the needy.

Beneficiaries commended Al-Khair Foundation gifts, saying it will help them in meeting their daily basic needs for food, especially in the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Yaya B. Baldeh, Hear Women, executive secretary, said his organisation is delighted to roll out a massive distribution of food items to fifty families who need it most.

According to him, supporting one another is very fundamental in achieving societal cohesion, noting that the food items donated will help the beneficiaries in substituting their expenditures to other things.

Baldeh thanked the Al-Khair Foundation for supporting and funding the project. He disclosed that Al-Khair Foundation is their main funder since their inception in 2017.

Alhagie Musa Manneh who spoke on behalf of the community said both the community of Bakau and the Arabic school are appreciative of the food pack been distributed to them.

He added: “Food is something that is very precious in our lives. We’re quite grateful to the gesture today.”

He thanked Al-Khair Foundation for funding the project, while called on both the Hear Women-The Gambia and Al-Khair Foundation to continue the precious work they’re doing in impacting lives.

Amie Jawaneh, a beneficiary said she is happy to receive the food items.

“I pray for the progress of the funding organisation and their implementing partner who is the architects of this great benevolence accorded to me,” Amie indicated.

Malick Tamba, a student at the Arabic school stated that the support is very helpful to them, noting that the donated items will greatly help them in meeting their daily needs.

He also expressed words of appreciation to the funders, saying the generosity accorded to them is very huge and especially in meeting their daily meals in the holy month of Ramadan.

In his vote of thanks statement, Mr. Musa Nget from Hear Women-The Gambia said Ramadan is a month of generosity and ‘support’. He thanked the beneficiary community of Bakau and Hear Women staff for responding to their appeal.

“Our communities need such initiatives that would transform lives of our people and the funders just did that,” Nget stated.

Hear Women- The Gambia is affiliated to Hear Women International based in the United Kingdom.

Hear Women is a registered charity based organisation in The Gambia with the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General Chambers is resolves to promoting awareness creation in a bid to empower the girl-child and the women who mostly are at disadvantage in society.
