Court martial at Yundum Barracks that found eight soldiers guilty of plotting to overthrow the government of President Adama Barrow through Whatsapp group chats on Friday will deliver it verdict today Monday.
Cpt. Yahya Jammeh, Lt. Abdoulie Jarju, Lt. Yahya Jammeh, Sgt. Babucarr Sanneh, Sgt. Malick Bojang, Lance Corporal Abba Badjie, Private Mbemba Camara and Private Alieu Sanneh were found guilty of nine counts treason, concealment of treason and mutiny, among other counts
Corporal Sulayman Sanyang, Corporal Lamin Gibba, Corporal Lamin Bojang and Lance Corporal Samboujang Bojang were acquitted and discharged by presiding Judge Colonel Salifu Bojang assisted by Advocate Judge Sainabou Waada-Ceesay.
In his ruling Colonel Salifu Bojang, said the eight men plotted to overthrow the legitimate government by plotting to stage a mutiny, seize control of the army armories, arresting senior army officials including the army commander and government ministers.
