Hon. Sallah Tutor GRTS on Submission of Financial Report

Hon.   Halifa Sallah, chairman of the Public Enterprise Committee stressed that it’s not proper to present an activity report without a financial statement an activity report gives a fair testimony of what the institution has done over the year.

“The financial statement should be an embodiment of the activities done through that year they put them together to enable us gage what the finances actually reflect the activities that are taking place and weather these activities were in line with what is required by their policies,” he pointed out.

Sallah Member for Serrekunda, yesterday tutored officials of the state own broadcaster at National Assembly in Banjul, during the presentation of GRTS financial report to the Public Enterprise Committee (PEC).

In his presentation, Abdou MK Touray, Director General GRTS told the committee that the activity report for both 2017, 2018 have been prepared but there is no financial statement for 2018.

He added that the board and management of GRTS will put into consideration for both 2017, 2018 as at the time of presentation only that of 2017 was completed; they will endeavor to separate the two reports to resubmit and present the activity report of 2017.

Sallah further stressed that the activity report before the committee is a consolidated report manifesting two years and the financial statement   for 2018 is yet to be around, noting that financial statements are connected and determined by activity report.

“We have reached a consensus that you will go back and reattach the 2017 activity report from the consolidated activity report”, he said.
