Youth Enterprise Development Is Critical To Economic Development – NEDI’s Programm Officer

The Programme Officer of National Enterprise Development Initiative (NEDI) had said the Youth Enterprise Development is critical to the economic development of the Gambia.

Mustapha Badgie, was speaking in Pakalinding, Lower River Region recently at a five-day Capacity Building Training Programme organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, through the National Enterprise Development Initiative.

He said the programme is meant to serve as a platform for networking and peering, learning as well as to build capacities and capabilities of Youth Entrepreneurs in the Gambia on diverse areas of Business and Enterprise development, Management and sustainability.

Fatou Jammeh, Governor of Lower River Region, implored participants to be committed and determined in enterprise development.

She noted the importance of youth participation in national development which she said is critical to the government of The Gambia that it warranted the creation of  ministry and satellite departments to promote and protect the rights and welfare of youth in the country.

The Governor however challenged participants to consider enterprising as a livelihood skill as well as a venture for self-employment and also a critical driver to income generation and economic development.

Ousman Sonko, lead traine at the training, also challenged participants to utilise the knowledge gained from the training, by practising the newly acquired skills for the progress of their business in diverse investments.

Participants were exposed to the key fundamental Basic Business Elements including concepts development, and business planning for start-ups and on-going Businesses.
